Teak from Burma
EU’s ban on import of teak from Burma
EU decided with effect from 10th of March 2008 to implement a ban on import of teak wood from Burma to EU.
As information to our customers and other interested parties we can announce that DLH will of course comply with EU’s decision and therefore will no longer import teak wood from Burma.
We are aware that Burmese teak to some extent is still imported to Denmark and other EU countries. In these cases the teak is processed outside Burma and because of this, according to EU custom rules, changes country of origin. DLH has decided that we will not import such Burmese teak because it is our believe that the intentions in the EU ban should be respected.
We can offer our customers a number of alternatives to Burmese teak. Please feel free to contact us about this.
